HBSI DAY 39— TGIF
TGIF for sure!
Ideas for bottled water has been swimming through my head all week…no pun intended. Team A(wesome) has been compiling a huge list of ideas, but we can’t seem to agree on one. It is so important to have an overall BIG idea and strategies— unlike me, who loves to get into the details. But, I’m learning and trust me— this is a HUGE learning experience.
Off to the weekends activities…and off with my hair (it’s coming off, ya’ll!)
Highlights:
- Eating dinner overlooking Washington Square at Kimmel Hall
- Losing in Broadway lottery for [title of show], I WILL win though..in due time!!
- Adventures of Dino and Connie (Paypal pitch)

Bottled Water.
Interesting. Different. Not surprised by client choice. Not well-versed in topic. But, overall— excited.
This topic is interesting because it is so timely. In an age where everyone has become so environmentally-conscious and has jumped on the “go green” eco-friendly train, it is easy to see why having Nestle Waters be our client for the HBSI project. However, I have never personally taken the time to educate myself on sustainability— so, I’ll be starting from neutral place ( a good thing).
I am confident that I will become an expert in this field— no doubt! So, here’s a quick look at Team A(wesome):
Simon H, Peter N, Marisa L, Robyn M and myself!
Off we go!
Highlights:
- Boating in Central Park and running into an old friend…on the lake!
- Comedy Show in Times Square
- Brooklyn adventures (Grimaldi’s Pizza and ice cream on the pier!)
- Saw Grease with the original Max and Laura (Danny and Sandy) on their last night
- “The Ones That Flutter”— Erica’s momma’s play debut in NYC!

It’s Hump Day of Week 7. And we all know that once Wednesday is over— then Thursday and Friday come that much quicker!
Anyways— I have had a busy couple of weeks working on a variety of projects! That’s whats great about agency life— knowing that you aren’t going to be doing the same thing day-to-day. For instance, I have been researching various social media networks and preparing the pitch materials for a particular client. I have been digitizing Digital In Action evaluations, researching and writing blog posts for Digital’s office blog or participating in brainstorming sessions with my colleagues.
The HB Summer Interns have also participated in a bunch of different sessions, including:
1. Lunch with BM CEO Pat Ford - He is such a nice man and really took the time to get to know each of the interns individually. He also shared his experiences with the company and his interest in wine!
2. “Knock Out The Fat” Premiere - Marsteller premiered the “Knock Out The Fat” web series for our newest client, Applica Inc. and George Forman Grills.
3. Rolling Knowledge— Marsteller - BM’s advertising agency, Marsteller, gave an hour presentation on its mission, structure and its clients.
4. Lunch with former HBSI Interns - First of all, lunch was fabulous— mashed potatos!!
Anyways, the former interns sat with us and told us all the tricks of how to succeed at Burson-Marsteller and in the public relations industry. Like I said— we’ve been extremely busy!! But I am loving it and trying to make each day count— it’s going by so quickly!
Highlights:
- FINALLY winning tickets to see In The Heights, Tony winner for “Best Musical 2008”
- Seeing Damn Yankees with Sean Hayes (Will & Grace) and Boeing-Boeing (saw Olympia Dukakis!!)
- Walking from Union Square TO Brooklyn (via Brooklyn bridge— gorgeous view of downtown!)
- MLB All-Star VIP Party at Webster Hall
- Tourist-y weekend with fellow intern, Robyn

Welcome to agency life— it definitely keeps your frseh on on top of your game.
It’s too hard to explain the entire situation, but what it comes down to is basic communication. Even at a public relations firm, miscommunication happens— and that’s OK. We just have to do our part in participating in discussion and finding all the answers we need.
Nonetheless, we are in the midst of waiting for “THE” call— either a good one or a bad one.
Fingers crossed!
Highlights:
— Finally winning tickets to see “In the Heights” Front Row!
— Catching up with an old governor’s school friend from four years ago!
— Playing and WINNING in Burson-Marsteller’s softball game!
